This Workshop is for any child and adolescent psychiatrist who is interested in learning the following:

• How to identify children and adolescents in your clinical practice with a suspected Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder who do not have the traditional FAS characteristics or a prenatal history of alcohol exposure available.
• What elements to include in the psychiatric evaluation to assess as fully as possible co-occurring developmental disability and psychopathology.Understand what is needed in providing both a FASD diagnosis and an integrated functional evaluation for formulationand recommendation purposes so that a comprehensive treatment plan can be devised.
• Understand the importance of initiating contact and collaborating with other allied health professionals on behalf of the patient.
• Review the importance of providing an individualized treatment plan for every patient with FASD by taking into considerationspeech and language problems, executive dysfunction, and other cognitive disability not just the Axis I diagnosis. Additionally, plan psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic approaches with the understanding of the cognitive disability and the psychopathology.
• Understand the particular clinical challenges and rewards of managing this population of patients.
