This Workshop shares the experience of developing an intensive, family systems based day treatment program to treat children who have both emotional and medical illness. The presenters have treated over 1,000 children with a wide variety of presentations including children with neurological, cardiac, nutritional, respiratory, and conversion symptoms. The obstacles to getting started including dealing with hospital administration, third party payors, community referral resources and school systems are discussed. A videotape is shown demonstrating the parent empowerment treatment model and providing outcome
data from recent patients.
