Jolie S. Brams, Ph.D., Alice R. Mao, M.D., Sara M. Chiu, M.D.
This Workshop provides practitioners with a comprehensive overview of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) as an intervention for autism. A videotaped demonstration of various ABA interventions illustrates how behavioral techniques are applied to the day-to-day treatment of this disorder. Practical information regarding the behavioral principles underlying ABA, treatment effectiveness, diagnostic considerations in patient selection, the use of adjunct and alternative treatments (including psychopharmacology), and the mechanisms of referral and funding are presented in a lecture and discussion format.
