The Workshop teaches how to elicit and measure a person’s skills in affective reciprocity, joint attention, theory of mind, pragmatic discourse, and intuitive social knowledge. Digital video clips are used to teach participants to recognize, diagnose, and treat persons with Asperger’s Disorder. The inadequacies in the DSM-IV diagnostic system for Pervasive Developmental Disorders are addressed and suggestions are made on how to circumvent these shortcomings.
