This Workshop discusses strength-based approaches to working with adolescents from three different avenues: research showing how strength-based approaches impact clinical outcomes independently from approaches designed to reduce psychopathology; how strengthbased approaches can be used as key elements in evidence-based systems; and a look at the literature on strength-based approaches and a discussion of clinical examples. This Workshop frees up the concept of strength-based approaches from their common association with “wraparound” services to show how they may be thoughtfully
considered far more widely than in wraparound services alone. The audience participates regarding defining “strength,” methods
to uncover “strengths,” and case examples.
