The focus of this SIG is to discuss the outcome of pharmacotherapy studies for the treatment of depression in children and adolescents, as well as safety issues. Factors related to clinical trial design that may have affected the outcome of the studies are reviewed and approaches for alternative study designs are discussed. A treatment algorithm for major depression in children and adolescents based upon all available evidence is discussed
