CCB #5: Master Clinician Michael A. Strober, Ph.D.

Dr. Strober is the Franklin Mint Professor of Eating Disorders and Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and Director, Eating Disorders Program and the Adolescent Mood Disorders Program at the Stewart and Lynda Resnick UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital. The author of over 150 scientific publications, he has served as Principal Investigator on private, industry, and National Institute of Mental Health-funded projects in the genetics of eating disorders, the biology and psychopharmacology of pediatric depression, and the course and outcome of pediatric bipolar illness. Dr. Strober is the recipient of awards for research excellence and for teaching and clinical service from the National Eating Disorders Association and the Academy for Eating Disorders, and has served on the Scientific Advisory Board for Eating Disorders for the National Institute of Mental Health. His expertise spans evidence-based clinical practice, long-term dynamic expressive psychotherapy, and the management of complex cases across the entire spectrum of clinical psychopathology within both short- and long-term outpatient and inpatient settings. In this session, Dr. Strober leads a discussion on managing complex eating disorder patients in a range of treatment settings.
