The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is pleased to announce the opportunity for child and adolescent psychiatry residents to apply for the 2009 Systems of Care Special Program Scholarship. The scholarship includes up to $750 for travel expenses to the AACAP’s 56th Annual Meeting in Honolulu, HI. Residents may apply to both the Special Program Scholarship and the Educational Outreach Program (EOP); however, individuals cannot receive both awards at the same time.
Program Description
The AACAP 2009 Special Program is a day-long event taking place on Monday, October 26 that explores the implications of consumer empowerment and strength-based treatment approaches for psychiatrists, other clinicians, agency staff and families. Topics include: the evidence-base for high-fidelity wraparound care coordination, the interrelationship between system structure and wraparound implementation processes, and the impact on youth and family outcomes and overall system costs. Program Benefits
- Up to $750 for travel expenses to the AACAP’s 56th Annual Meeting in Honolulu, HI. This includes airfare, hotel, and meals (max. $75/day). Applicants will be required to provide documentation of travel expenses in order to receive AACAP reimbursement.
- The program will give you the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for effective work in public mental health settings, systems of care practices and wraparound principles relevant to strength-based care.
- The chance to network with colleagues working in systems-based care.
Application Process
- A complete application will include the application form, CV, personal statement articulating a compelling reason for wanting to attend the Special Program, and a form indicating good standing from your training program.
- Applications will be reviewed by members of the Work Group on Community-Based Systems of Care. Recipients will be notified in early August.
