Assistant Director of Development
The Assistant Director of Development works closely with the Senior Director of Meetings, CME, and Development and is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all grant proposals and fundraising activities that support the goals of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). The position is the senior member of the fundraising team. Responsibilities include: develop and maintain endowment program; cultivate and maintain relationships with funding sources; coordinate grant reports and renewals; write and develop proposals to private and public foundations, corporations, and other funding agencies; solicit sponsorship for meetings activities, campaigns and special projects; plan and implement special events; oversee production of written materials/brochures related to development; manage accurate records, including donor acknowledgment and grant reporting; provide weekly fundraising reports to leadership; and conduct quarterly reviews of all timetables and deliverables.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred; a minimum of seven years experience as a development professional; a minimum of three years of management level experience in a non-profit development department; knowledge of fundraising concepts, proposal writing, and donor software and reporting; proven track record of success in fundraising; experience with corporate, foundation, major gifts, and direct mail solicitation; understanding of medical organizations and funding of continuing medical education; extensive experience interacting with high level contacts, including board members, government representatives, foundation officials, and corporate/pharmaceutical representatives; experience coordinating and educating volunteers in fundraising activities; knowledge of fundraising regulations and fund accounting; and exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.
