Workshop MM: Promoting Parental Participation: Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment for Anxious Children

Saturday, October 27
12:00 – 3:00 p.m. (ticket)
Ellen C. Flannery-Schroeder, Ph.D., ABPP, Alexis Lamb, B.A., Caitlin Burditt, B.A.

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common forms of psychopathology in children and adolescents. By the end of this Workshop, participants have an understanding of the phenomenology and common presentations of childhood anxiety disorders. They are exposed to a wide range of empirically-supported cognitive behavioral techniques in the treatment of childhood anxiety disorders. The participants are able to recognize the importance of active parental involvement in the treatment of childhood anxiety disorders and understand key concepts to be conveyed to parents of anxious children. Lastly, they gain the ability to identify important resources that are available to parents and recognize the common issues and difficulties specific to working with parents of anxious children. Participants engage in role-plays, vignettes, and small group activities.
