Managed care organizations and insurance companies continue to increase the amount of Peer to Peer Utilization Reviews between treating child psychiatrists and child psychiatrist advisors. First, this SIG discusses the review process from the perspective of a treating clinician and provides suggestions for how treating child psychiatrists can better prepare for and participate in peer to peer telephone reviews. Secondly, the SIG discusses some of the other physician advisor and quality review roles that child psychiatrists can be involved with in a behavioral health managed care organization.
